Advice on E10/E5 unleaded fuel
PLEASE NOTE:
E10 is 95 Octane – standard unleaded fuel
E5 is 97+ Octane – premium unleaded fuel
Use E10 – 95 octane – wherever possible.
[E5 – 97 octane – is a much hotter burning fuel, in air cooled engines this can cause overheating and internal engine damage]
Only buy enough fuel to last about you for about one month.
[the additional ethanol in E10 is likely to cause the absorption of water vapour into the fuel the longer it is stored]
Keep fuel stored in as dry a place, with container as tightly sealed as possible. Plastic fuel cans should help reduce the effects of condensation
Use fuel additive
[needs to be added to fuel container at time of purchase]
Briggs and Stratton Fuel Fit
Ethanol Shield Fuel Stabilizer
Two – stroke fuel
As well as additive; use good quality two stroke oil.
Synthetic / semi synthetic at 40:1
Mineral oil at 25:1
Engines not being used for a month or more
Drain contents of fuel tank ; turn off fuel tap, if fitted. Start engine and run until it stops. That way there will be no fuel left in the carburetor.
